Happy Halloween!

Halloween is by far one of the favorite holidays in this house. Once Molly got over the fact that we wouldn't allow her to be Sharpay, she decided on Ariel. I thought that would be great; we already had an Ariel costume in the dress up basket. Molly had other ideas about how her costume would look. She drew me a picture and showed me the Ariel tail from the Broadway Musical book she has. Mmmmm...not what I was thinking. I told David I thought we could just cut a tail out of cardboard, cover it in aluminum foil, and safety pin it to her outfit. He thought that was crazy lame and instead constructed a tail Molly is very proud of. It even bounces up and down when she walks, or shakes her booty (which she did for 10 minutes straight before heading out the door.)

Lindsey decided on Gabriella. It is freezing tonight and she refused to wear a turtle neck under her dress or tights because that IS NOT what Gabriella wears. We did compromise and at least got her to put on a jacket as she headed out the door.

I tried to get a picture of the girls together before they left to collect all their goodies, but Lindsey said she would not smile. And, she didn't...all 7 times I took a picture. This is the best I got.

The girls met up with Copeland and Jay to round the neighborhood for treats.

Happy Birthday, Lindsey!

Lindsey started her day with a celebration at school.


Ms. Michelle has them choose something
from the birthday treat bag which Lindsey
was excited about.

Lindsey and her friends got to decorate cupcakes for
her birthday snack. Sprinkles, sprinkles, and more
sprinkles.

After a fun school celebration, we headed
to bounce house to party with her 3 favorite
boyfriends; Case, Jay, and Wyatt. Lindsey
wanted a Batman birthday party even though
she knows NOTHING about Batman. Fine by
me, Batman was an easy cake to make!

lunch that David put together.


Funniest birthday gift she got...a purse
from her friend Wyatt that included
a wallet with a picture of him already in
it. She has since gotten a picture of her
friend Jay and put that in her wallet, too.
Now she just needs one of Case and she's
got pictures of all her boys in her "diamond"
studded heart wallet.

all that "blowing."

After the two birthday celebrations,
she crashed on the way to pick Molly
up from school. When David got home,
we had a low key dinner and ended the night
with a game of "Go Fish."

Another great year this funny little girl
has brought all of us. Look forward to what
year 5 has in store!

South Carolina State Fair

David picked Molly up from school on Friday and as the carpool lady was loading her into the car, she told Molly to eat a corn dog for her at the Fair. Fair?!? David was unaware we had made plans to go to the Fair. When he told me about it, I was unaware as well. Seems Molly had decided we needed to go to the Fair this weekend. Since we'd avoided it the past two years, we caved, and took them to the Fair this morning.

We all ended up having a great time. Molly and David enjoyed it the most by far. Lindsey did a lot of ride watching while Molly and David rode on everything.

Our almost four year old, Lindsey

Lindsey doesn't speak quite the same language as the rest of us in our family. No, she's no linguistic genius speaking Farsi or Urdu or anything like that. Lindsey has her own language; created by Lindsey and spoken only by Lindsey. Below are a few of her words and phrases that keep us amused.

Country Girls

Last weekend we headed to visit Chuck and Susan at their house in the Shenandoah Valley. It was a gorgeous weekend, in a beautiful setting, with some of our favorite people.

We went to a Fall Festival one afternoon.

quite a ride. Thankfully there were no
trips to the E.R.

Oh My!

I drove up in the carpool line and burst into laughter. Molly looked like a maniac! She must have played VERY hard at school today. When she left this morning, it DID NOT look like I had brushed her hair with an egg beater. This is the look from the front...

Aside from looking crazy, she got in the car in a great mood excited about wanting to "win the ABC singing contest in school." She told me parents can't come, she just has to sing it by herself in front of the class and if she's the best, she wins a prize. She feels CERTAIN she will win. Well, I'll let you be the judge.

For The Love of Cocky

There was a lot for us to learn when we first moved to South Carolina. I quickly caught on that when people were talking about the "Cocks" around here, they were using the noun very differently than I had heard it used in the past. These people LOVE Gamecock football. Caleb, a little friend from the neighborhood, is such a fan, his parents paid "Cocky" to come for a little birthday half-time show.


Molly and her baby, were quite comfortable posing with Cocky.


Lindsey was more comfortable throwing a football at him. That was about as close as she got to him all party.

The Barrett boys LOVED Cocky. Walker, the one on the right, is the boy Molly is planning on marrying. He might have different plans.
