Ride 'em Cowgirl!

Lindsey and Molly each get to pick one after school activity. Lindsey knew she wanted to take horseback riding lessons and Molly has taken 2 months to decide between ballet, tap, gymnastics, or horseback riding. Last week both of the girls rode and both girls LOVED it. Molly did decide on gymnastics after all so it will just be Lindsey with her new horse friends on Friday afternoons. Happy for her to have something that is just her thing although she really wanted Molly to stay again.

Hope to get some pictures of Lindsey riding Ribbon next week.

Snack Helper

Who thought that being the Snack Helper in Kindergarten was even better than it was in Preschool? It's all Lindsey talked about leading up to her big day, which was Monday.

As the Snack Helper, you get to be the line leader, you don't have to sit "criss cross applesauce," you are the calendar helper, your table gets called first, you get a special pillow at rest, you sit next to the teacher in a special chair, you get to be the "interviewer," you are the first one to go to centers, you pack up first to go home, all the kids make a picture of you, and the kids do a name cheer for you. Who wouldn't love a day that everything is focused on you!

My favorites were the pictures and the name cheer. Lindsey got to shake the pom poms and say the cheer in the megaphone and all the kids cheered along with her.

No matter what I do or say,
my name will always be the same,
it starts with an L,
and ends with a Y,
now count to 3,
and say my name,
LINDSEY! LINDSEY!
(Outfit by Lindsey...and NOT worn to school)

This is the picture that her friend David drew. She asked me why he made her fat. :) Her favorite is at school and was drawn by a boy whose name she didn't "bemember." Can't wait to see that one. And, Lindsey is already talking about the next time she's snack helper!

Surprise!

Blair and Hannah planned a surprise bowling birthday party for Chris. A surprised Chris.
Lindsey's reaction to getting a strike.

Hannah kept the surprise from her dad for over a month! Very impressive...not sure I could do that!

The three amigos.
We brought pop rocks as party favors and one got stuck to the hair on Lindsey's arm. She was not going to let it go to waste. Mmmm....hairy pop rocks.
Lindsey was serious about her bowling game...as was her dad who got a turkey. I think I was suppose to be very impressed I just had no idea what it meant.
Lindsey given Chris the card she made.

Lindsey's card. The yellow and red boomerang looking things are suppose to be "the crew" which made Chris very happy.
Chris and his girls.

Birthday boy makes a wish. Teddy, his firefighter friend made him a homemade Red Velvet cake that was delicious.

Birthday boy with the sign Blair made for him.

Chris wearing the crown Molly made for him.
A night of fun for all. Blair and Hannah are great party planners!

Special Dinner

Hannah was here for the night so we celebrated Lindsey starting Kindergarten, Molly starting 2nd grade, and Hannah starting Middle School. After a fun afternoon at the pool, the girls helped plan the menu and everyone helped make dinner. Lindsey was the brownie maker....and spoon licker.
Molly decorated the table and put out all the candles.

Hannah was the server and in charge of making sure she had extra ice in my glass. She took that job very seriously which of course I appreciated! I do love my extra ice.

Molly's centerpiece for the table looked great.

All of us enjoyed our "fancy" dinner of salmon, corn, green beans, noodles, and brownies. A fun night with three fun, sweet, and smart school girls.

School Girls

Both of the girls are going to Pontiac this year and had a great start to the school year. Molly is in Ms. Jackson's class and Lindsey is in Ms. Krapfel's class. Both seem like really fun teachers and were so kind and loving when we dropped them off. Certainly helped with being able to walk away knowing I wouldn't see them for another 7 hours. Lindsey found her fish before heading into the classroom to sign in, move her fish to "brought lunch" and then headed off to find her table.
Molly was excited to have a desk this year instead of a table. Who knows what Messy Marvin will be stuffing into that desk.
I spent the day working at church so I wouldn't sit around sad all day at home. 7 hours is a long time to be away from the girls. To make matters worse for me, they got home and then headed off with friends to set up a lemonade stand and didn't appear again until 5:oo p.m. My girls are growing up too fast!

We'll Miss You, Polo Road!

We got off to a rough start this year but once Molly was moved into Ms. Wider's class, she had a great year and I was much happier as a mom. It was with very mixed emotions that we made the decision for Molly and Lindsey to go to Pontiac Elementary for the 2010-11 school year. We'll miss Polo Road and all the great friends she has made over the last 2 years. Posing (as she now loves to do) for a picture before heading out for the last day of school. The school girl look below is the second day of school. WOW...what a change. Of course the glasses throw me off a bit as well as the short hair.
One last carpool pick up from the Hudgens.

Afternoon carpool pick up on the last day of school and heading out to lunch for a celebration.

Showing me their sad faces that it was their last day of First Grade. Molly has said several times how much she is going to miss Ms. Wider, her teacher.
Good Bye Polo Road...thanks for the fond memories!

Happy Birthay, David!

The day before David's birthday we had Molly's party. With a lot of energy going into her party, David had her left over cookie cake as his birthday cake. I know, not my best wife move ever but thankfully he's an easy guy. Lindsey decided to wear hair rollers to the birthday celebration. Pondering before blowing out the candles and making a wish.

This is the card that Molly made for him that just cracked me up. Nothing like your own child being in absolute amazement at how old you've "gotin."
Next year we'll bake a fresh cake for the birthday boy and maybe Molly will express less shock over his age. Can't wait for my birthday card from her. :)
It's always fun to be insulted on your birthday.

Lindsey's Graduation Ceremony

The Graduation Ceremony was so cute it was hard to be sad. She had her own little cheering section of Pop, Case, Molly, and Copeland.

A highlight for David when his girl leads her class in carrying the American Flag. The ceremony started with the graduates saying the Pledge of Allegiance. I love how it seems like Lindsey is pausing for a moment in thought before walking up to get her diploma.
Accepting her diploma from Ms. Joye. One last look out from the stage.
Happy to have her sister joining her in Elementary School next year.

A happy graduate with her daddy.

LOTS of Tears

Lindsey and I both had a terrible time with her graduating from Preschool. The night before the last day of school, she was in bed crying saying she didn't want to leave Spring Valley Baptist. I was no help consoling her because I wanted her to stay there forever, too. Opening a package from Grammy the morning of the last day with this adorable skirt and $20 bucks really helped her mood. As for me, well, I cried....A LOT...all day. Last time playing out on the playground. Check out that flirty skirt.
Swinging...a favorite activity for Lindsey.

When you barely fit into the playground play toys, I guess it should be a sign that it's time to move on. She loves this buggy and the Radio Flyer tricycle.

One last trip in from the playground and to the water fountain. I was a little over the top having to document all the lasts.

Hugs from Ms. Joye, best Preschool Teacher of all times!
Preschool was a magical and wonderful time for us. So sad to see these precious years come to an end. I am thankful to have had the experience of being a stay at home mom and having the girls in such an incredible school like Spring Valley Baptist Preschool.

Molly the Wahoo

Molly absolutely loves everything about being on the Wahoo swim team. Even though she doesn't know the correct way to do breast stroke or butterfly, if the coach will let her swim those events, she will. In this meet she got to swim all the strokes and had a great time. Jumping in to get ready to backstroke. She ran into the lane line about 5 times and got stuck at one point. She still had a blast and thought she did great. :)
Before all the lane crashing started.

Her first time swimming breaststroke in a meet.
Molly smiling and swimming. David asked her why she was smiling while she was swimming and she told him she just loves it so much she can't stop smiling.

A first place ribbon for Molly! She was so excited.
The season ended last week. Looking forward to another fun swim season next year.
