Molly and Lindsey were on our bed and Molly was reading a Cinderella book. She stopped reading for a minute, turned to Lindsey and said, "Cinderella doesn't know what she's talking about. Dreams don't come true. I still can't fly and we still aren't mermaids."
My girls won't be doing any advertisements for Disney. Not sure Disney would like "dreams don't come true" to be the new slogan. Nothing like living with a hardened 6 year old. :)
*Molly said this about a month or so ago as well. Guess Cinderella has really disappointed her to bring it up again.

According to Lindsey....
I worked at church in the nursery this morning and Lindsey was in my class. We were at the table painting with a few other little friends. One of the girls, trying to be funny called me a baby. Lindsey piped up and said, "she's not a baby; she has boobs and kids."
What's with my girls and boobs this week?!?

Happy 4th of July
I think he probably shed a little tear when we was awaken by the patriotic CD the girls were blasting in the family room. :) Of course he loves that they know how to salute and do so very seriously.
First in line. Who is this child that now races to be part of everything? No quiet shy girl anymore.
Lindsey playing one of the games.
The shirt relay - Molly quickly found out swimming in a big, wet, t-shirt was quite a workout. I think she'll be skipping this relay next year.
The Cerra girls didn't make it past one toss in the balloon game.
And she's off...
Molly taking the pool game very seriously...she's the one in the swimmer start position.
Lindsey swimming with no floaties!!

Lindsey's age group had a "diving" for golf ball game in the baby pool. All she had to do was bend over and pick them up but she took it very seriously and plugged her nose, and went under water to try and get the balls.
She kept coming up empty handed.
Molly couldn't stand it any longer and jumped in and started passing her golf balls.
Notice everyone else has left the pool? Each golf ball equaled a piece of candy so this was not being taken lightly by either of them.

Lots of balls = lots of loot.
Once at the Alexander's, they decided to take a pool break and play some cards. I am saying that very loosely. Not sure a one of them knows what's going on in this game.

No pictures of the "fireworks." David assured the girls that next year:
a) we will have more than 2 sparklers for each child
b) we'll purchased more than 1 real firework
c) we'll wait until it gets dark so they can actual see their sparklers
What can I say? I'm cheap and wanted to get the girls home and in bed.
Happy Birthday, America!!! Hope everyone else had a very happy 4th.
"Half Teenager"
David and I were sitting on the couch waiting for the girls to finish getting ready for bed. Molly came in to go through the check list of things David had told her to do. She wanted to know if we noticed something different about her.
Me: You have a clip in your hair and you are wearing a swim cover up for pajamas.
Molly: Yes, but did you notice these? (She was pointing to her boobs.) They've gotten bigger. Now I am half teenager.
She giggled and flitted off excitedly and David let out the biggest "Oh booooooy" you can imagine. I guess I should be thankful "oh boy" was all he said. As for those "for real" teenage years we'll experience in the future...they're going to be rough here in the Cerra house.

Summer Fun
Summer is in full swing and we've enjoyed spending time at the pool, getting away to the beach for the weekend, and spending time with friends.
So happy to be allowed to eat dinner in the FROG and watch Pink Panther 2 with David.
Playing a family game of Uno using a wax paper roll as a card holder. Worked perfectly!
School's Out For Summer!
I'm excited to have the girls home for summer I'm just sad Molly is finished with Kindergarten. Hopefully we'll have just as great as an experience in 1st grade.
Hanging with Holden before leaving for school.
Molly with birthday boy, Diego.
Lining up to leave at the end of the day...one last time!

For WEEKS she had been talking about how she was so excited she was graduating and going to first grade. When she got in the car to leave the last day, she told me she was just going to go back to Ms. Kuhlen's class when school starts. She thought she might need to be back in Kindergarten for a little while. We'll all miss Ms. Kuhlen but we left with many fond memories of Kindergarten and will keep our fingers crossed that's where Lindsey lands a year from now.
Holden, Erin, and Grammy Visit
Holden, Grammy and Erin took a road trip to South Carolina the first week of June. The girls were soooooo happy to have Holden in their very own house.
Holden meeting the dogs and getting reacquainted with the girls. Talk about a little overwhelming!
The South Carolina girls.
Lindsey didn't let Holden out of her site or her arms for more than about a minute. She was always ready to play, help, or hold him.
Ballerinafairybathingsuitcrazyhair Lindsey.
More "help" from cousin Lindsey. Thanks to Grammy he didn't fall head first on the floor.
A little snooze in the Jumperoo.
Lindsey was right there to help Holden eat his puffs as well.
A stroll in the wagon around the yard.
Bottoms up!
David's "Rock n Roll" cake that the girls requested that we make. It was a group effort and we never did get around to eating it.

If Holden could talk, I think he would have said help about a thousand times over the weekend.
